When our longtime beer packaging client came to us with the idea of opening up a coffee shop, we couldn’t control our excitement. After years of working on beer labels for their existing brand, we had the opportunity to help them launch a new coffee company.
Raid the Hive
Alvarium is the Latin term for beehive, and they lean heavily into hive imagery. Our challenge was to build a unique identity while maintaining Alvarium Brewing’s current brand equity. For the coffee concept, we wanted to develop a narrative that ran parallel to the hive imagery. We showcased a number of mood boards during the research phase, each with a different aesthetic to complement their current brand’s design elements. They featured organically drawn typography, honey-themed colors, and playful illustrations.
Our solution for the unique narrative was a series of bears "Raiding the Hive" with the delicious coffee Alvarium produces as the reward.
