August – Summer 2023

We’ve definitely been here before… 🤔

It feels weirdly familiar but also comforting to be writing about summer again. Wait, that means we’ve been back on our newsletter grind for one entire year now! In honor of our year of back-and-better-than-ever Box 8 Newsletters™️, it’s only right we update you on all the things we wrote about last summer –– the TV, of course, among other things –– you know, for old times’ sake.

Last summer we talked about winning a bunch of awards at The CADC Annual Awards Show and to be real with you… we’ve done it once again. 🤟 We are once again very proud of our talented team and amazing clients, as we took home TEN awards this year. We never took that How To Decorate Your Office With Molded Concrete Awards From The CADC class, but we did take the The Art Of The Humble Brag class: we aced it –– obviously.

We did get the TV mounted, as you probably remember from our winter newsletter, and have been giving quite tech-savvy, fancy, impressive, stylish and sexy presentations (no, we aren’t watching Shrek all day 🙄). And naturally as technology scientists, we’ve upgraded our fuel source (coffee) as well. We officially have a Nespresso (not sponsored, but feel free to reach out, babe; the DMs are open)! The self-proclaimed “the creamy iconic espresso” has really transformed us here at Box 8, mostly in that the sensory nightmare that was the coffee grinder going off at 8:34am is no longer assaulting us. That being said, we think someone stole our pods delivery (can’t win ‘em all –– but you can win TEN more awards 🤪😎).

Welcome, Tomaso!
We’re happy to have Tomaso as our summer intern! Tomaso is a student at UCONN studying design and is interested in how design can impact communities. When asked for a fun fact, Tomaso said he has a baby tooth still, 20 years strong 💪 (you won’t be able to see it in his pic because it was taken on an iPhone 7 so don’t try to zoom in). When surrendering this information, he asked “Is that fun?” We said yes. Additionally, Tomaso has been caught eating PopTarts raw. Is that fun? Well, that is unhinged.

Pour for the Cure
Join us this weekend at breweries and wineries across Connecticut to raise funds for pediatric brain cancer research. The Cure Starts Now Cancer Research Foundation is one of the only cancer foundations dedicated to the Homerun Cure™ for all cancers, starting with one of the most deadly: pediatric brain cancer. Presented by The Connecticut Chapter of The Cure Starts Now, we’ve recruited breweries and wineries across CT to collectively fundraise $25,000 for pediatric brain cancer research targeting DIPG. Show your support by grabbing a pint at a participating brewery on August 12th & 13th, or donating directly to The Cure Starts Now.

Current Projects

Just Started: The Crown Market

We’re excited to be working with the beloved Crown Market of West Hartford. Known for it’s quality kosher groceries and deli, Crown has been a staple in the Jewish community for over 80 years. Our goal is to refresh Crown’s visual identity to attract a new generation of kosher shoppers, while still honoring the legacy of it’s long-time patrons.

Just Finished: Alice in the Village

Keep your eyes peeled for our recent work with Alice in the Village, the iconic tea and retail shop in Mystic Village. Taking inspiration from the original novel, we developed a visual identity blossoming with magic and style to help Alice’s brand grow and expand for the future. Bright colors, whimsical elements, and a fully-custom roster of character illustrations help bring Alice in the Village to life.

Just Finished (also): 🤫

If you know, you know.

Until next time.

So yes, we’ve been once again busy this summer (just not on Fridays after 2:30pm still 😎). We know you’re eagerly awaiting the next Box 8 Newsletter™️, but in the meantime we’re always posting what we’re up to on social, so follow us on Instagram (@box8creative) to see some of the cool stuff we’re making. You can also send us a DM so you can be in the running for our #1 fan. Currently, it’s Cindy. Hey, Cindy, we love you! 🫶
